Salty dog cocktail

Made from gin or vodka and fresh grapefruit juice, the salty dog is a relative to the classic greyhound cocktail but with a twist – its salted rim. This cocktail is incredibly refreshing during the summer months but can be enjoyed all year round.

Stuck choosing between gin or vodka? For a stronger taste, we recommend using gin. However, if you want to taste more grapefruit than alcohol, then vodka is best. Garnish with a salted rim and grapefruit peel.

What you'll need...

  • 50ml gin or vodka
  • 100ml pink grapefruit juice
  • Grapefruit peel or slice, to garnish
  • Sea salt, for the rim

Method

  1. Wet the rim of your chosen highball glass and rim with sea salt. 

  2. Fill the glass with ice and pour in the gin or vodka and grapefruit juice. Stir until combined. 

  3. Peel the grapefruit and use as garnish. Alternatively, you can place a slice of grapefruit on the side of the glass.

  4. Enjoy while the drink is cold.
